Flavio Briatore has ended his career in disgrace.

In addition to handing Renault a suspended two-year ban after finding the team guilty of conspiring to cause a premeditated crash during last year’s Singapore Grand Prix, the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has meted out individual punishments to former team principal, Flavio Briatore, and former engineering director, Pat Symonds.

The Council decided that Briatore and Symonds, along with driver Nelson Piquet, had acted in isolation in planning the lap 14 'accident', which helped vault team leader Fernando Alonso to the front of the field.

Good riddance - too overbearing on the F1 circuit.
Not to mention, poor Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell ... :-D

Wow, what a disgrace! I didn't see the offense in question but I probably wouldn't have seen it either as pre-meditated. Sigh.

Still think Nelson Piquet should not have escaped any ban just because he had sour grapes against renault, Briatore, Symmons and all because he highlighted this crash fix in Singapore, if he as in Nelson was not sacked this year would he have mentioned this? not likely!

Problem I have with Nelson Piquet is that he is suposed to be a professional driver, while in the heat of racing some others have crashed into other cars with the aim of winning, but this was pre-meditated and could have killed someone, for a professional to pre-meditate this I wouldnt want him in a team I owned!!

I couldn't agree more, Dave. Just because he turned evidence and grassed on the other conspirators, Piquet shouldn't have got off Scott free, i.m.o. This is more than race fixing, this is people's lives they're playing with, like you said.

Indeed Barry, but I feel that what team in F1 will want to now take Nelson on as a driver, knowing he is capable of doing this, think trust is lost and in the end his professional career maybe a short lived one,

One think did occur to me is that Flavio manages Alonso and Webber, wonder how his ban will affect them or their relationship.

Back to the F1 issues I read the FIA release in full and the FIA have also which is why I mentioned Alonso and Webber is they they will to also renew and driver who has dealing with Briatore's Superlicence, which means they likely will need to find new management soon?
