Flight simulator2002 install problem

i just formated my computer last night and got everything installed but FS2002 i started to install it and got to disk 3 thin i started to get a error saying make sure disk is not full or make sure file is not in use. well the thing is i got atless 25gigs free on my hard disk and nothing was using that cd but the flight sim install program so i tell it to skip the file and it moves on past and thin it does it again on other files. there are no marks on the cd. can a cd just go bad? or what? should i e-mail microsoft about this?
