Imprtant work files were backed up onto a floppy disc which will not work on either of our computers' floppy drives. When I go to my computer and access the A drives both show "not responding", so it must be the disc. How can I retrieve my work files from this disc? Please any suggestions, or I'm in for a lot of work!!!

Try this: http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm It's a free data recovery program. I've used it on hard drives many times successfully but never on a floppy disk, but it should work. You could also try recovering the files in DOS: boot to a MSDOS startup floppy, then insert your disk, and copy them to the hard drive (be sure to create a new empty folder on C: before booting to DOS) using the copy command by typing 'copy a:\filename c:\new folder name\filename' without the quotes.... I think there are some floppy disk repair tools in either the Backup or Drive Utilities or Data Recovery sections here at Major Geeks..... good luck!
