Hmm, seems like the US is being hammered, except for the sparsely populated states.:eek

Canada is so far is not faring too badly yet but the Northwest Territories are being hit hard for some reason, there's not that many folk there. Anyways, getting my shot tomorrow.:) It was just approved on Wednesday but 2M doses were pre-shipped last week waiting on the approval. I'm priority as my gf is an RN. Woot!

Yep. We've been smacked upside the head with it. H1N1 so far, anyway. My niece was diagnosed with it and my daughter was out of school a couple of days (not sure if it was a mild case or just a virus). Schools are closing around here.

Seasonal flu hasn't hit yet though.

Maps are OK but in reality they cannot test that many folk for H1N1 so its based on flu like symptoms, UK is same and in work we gained a few emails based on furure predictions and the need to plan now as the sesonal flu + H1N1 will add up to a bad situation for hospitals.

I got the season flu jab in work two weeks ago and feel of late with symptoms that I have fought off a flu virus and not the H1N1 but we are as I work in clinic due to get the H1N1 jab next week (comes in two parts), dunno if its wise as its not trialed as much as normal as this is rushed out.

Need also to take into account as sad and nasty as it sounds to take into concideration the underlying conditions many that have died from positive H1N1 as the virus did trigger another issue which was the main cause of death, however many of us dont know if we have an underlying condition as in heart disease.

Not IMHO going to be a fantasic christmas period/

Those maps are not just H1N1 but combined as the US CDC and Canadian equiv. do not track them separately anymore, H1N1 is really hitting hard now as there the level of infections already surpasses the seasonal numbers which peaks in February. Pregnant women and children are the first in line.

Oh I know not just H1N1 maps as mentioned but a combination of the two which is not going to add up this year I feel to a great winter period, I have seen models for UK on the effects of both for this coming quarter and the predictions are worst case but not great reading, kinda scary really.

TBH I will be getting the H1N1 jab as I have already had the seasonal flu shot, as a precaution, sadly I will come into contact with alot of folk in next few months and working in a hospital is not the safest palce to keep clear of all virii and bugs at the best of times.

Of the 100 deaths attributable to H1N1 in UK a few as you rightly say Augie are pregnant women and children, seems this one leaves out the general group for flu deaths, but we shall see.
