There are three folders that unlocker assistant says winlogon is using that continue to be reinstated after I delete them. These folders are xerox, outlook express, and microsoft frontpage. How can I ditch these folders for good?

Also, I've been trying to clean my computer for about a month now and I think I'm getting close, though I still experience slow downs when running iTunes and some gaudy webpages. I've noticed the following...

    In C:\Windows...
    7 files named 00*.*_.tmp totaling 133kB
    5 files named SET*.*.tmp totaling 4.92 MB

    In C:\Windows\System32...
    97 files named _00*.*_.tmp.dll totaling 39.2 MB
    1174 files named SET*.*.tmp totaling 275 MB

    In C:\I386...
a lot of files like this... 8514FIX.FO_, you know, with the _ at the end of the extension

It is pretty involved to delete those folders, and you run the risk of breaking OS functions. I believe the xerox folder has to do with legacy scanners using twain32.

As for the files in the i386 folder, the _ files are compressed, hence they look that way. They are backups from the original installation. If you don't have an XP CD, you best keep em.

As for performance, no amount of cleaning temp files and folders is going to increase it, unless you are running low on disk space.

Thank you very much. I guess it is time to bring the old computer in to a professional and see if it's time for an upgrade.
