man you know what sucks? i just spent the last two and a half days working on a huge gromac (10000) and i only got 24 friggin points!!! oh well. I'll get some more...

LOL it happens ,,,tinkers usually get about 200 points,,gromacs less,,,so if you average it out,,,it will all add up NEO,,,, ..PS whats your processor speed ???

Yeah, i haven't gotten any tinkers yet. but then again, i have only been working on two wu's total. so ya know....

24 points for 2 1/2 days of service does kinda suck but lets keep it real and remember that the points are not what counts.
I'm only 73 percent done with the one I started yesterday evening.I get nervous the longer they take because there's more time for something to go wrong and lose the whole work unit.
That only happened once though.for whatever reason I shut off the pc with the PSU switch and when I rebooted,it was no good.

hrm i did a 10000 gromac in 2 hours. i wonder how many points i got for that thing. 44 points for 2 10000 gromacs in 4 hours worth of computing time? not bad i say

yeah but it took you 2 1/2 days to complete one and i did 2 in 4 hours. i wouldn't really mind 44 points for the 2 then. what processor/memory are you runnin?

idk i got another tough one because its only 500 and its only at 25 and i've been working on it for the past 4 hours. maybe after thsi oen i can get some faster ones.

hrm CTRL+ALT+DEL and make sure nothing else is using up your processing time. It seroiusly sounds like you have a program that's running in the background using up your resources. Give it a whirl maybe your find something?!

Neo right click on the fancy screen look at your logfile,, may be a 500 gromac,,,,,check the file,,,and post back unit 400 is usually a tinker,,,200 points to look forward to !!!,,the log file tells you the core you DLed...Glenn

You never know what kind of points your going to get, Gromacs vary alot. On the other hand tinkers will most always get you around 200. The last three days I havn't even seen a tinker, the week before that I never saw a gromac. It all equals out.

i got a question, are we going for number of WU's completed or score. Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't somebody say that it doesn't matter what the score is, it's how many WU's you do? Then turn off the large file crap and do the easy one!

Mgrist I ran a 5000 count gromac over night and got like 175 points for it ,,,,highest I ever recieved for a gromac,,,Glenn

What counts is score but like Glenn said it seems that the more work done the better so I don't know. Everything is based on score as far as ratings go.

Yes it is so,,if you have a look at YOUR log file you will see info on the harvest date of the project,,,we are months behind in stanfords eyes,,we are processing units from SEPT. sometimes,,, the more we all accomplish,,helps to bring there medical research up to date,,,there will be a time when the total combined efforts of the world will be doing thier data crunching as required on a daily basis,,for that day of there work,,,,,,the whole principle is MASS COMPUTATIONS,,,they could never do there work single handedly,,,Glenn

good morning glenn. I started one of those huge gromacs last night. It's a 125 and when i woke up my computer was off. So i lost about 5 hours of computing time but it's at 117/125. Anyways i'm off to a good start climbing through the majorgeeks rankings. I'm already the next class up in posts counts. I sat in the hardware and driver forums helping people all night.

Greast that you are climbing up the ladder...a hugh gromac is usualy 5000 or 10000 ..looks like you got a tiny one LOL,,,,all is good though !!!

I dont' think it's a tiny one. The huge ones only took 2 hours to do (those 10000's) and those went like 1000/10000 to 2000/10000. but this one's going 1/125 2/125 in those steps and it's taking almost 8 hours to complete. Oh well hows the weather where your at glenn?

Wish i had a paypal account i could use! Anyways i got one of those tinkers. Pretty cool good score booster. Took about 5 hours to do. I tinkered with some memory timings last night and it seems to be a little fast now hahaha. It's cool to see our team score rising so quick.

Just turned in a Large Gromac,,and got another,,,seems like I run one a day on my P4 the other PC's just chugging along LOL,,will all purge at once,,hehehe look out,, my latest score and unit count,,,PS I just started in Mid August,,,

Probably. That stat site that Goldy got with the guy on "Statsman" or whatever... is more up on it. More up to date.
I'm just kind of "bound" to the Official FAH board because the data for my gnuplot graphs come from that, and I'm way too deep into it to change over.

That is, until I get the scripting skills/tools to automate more of my work with it!

LUG,,all work units give differant points,,Tinkers run 2-3 days ,,about 200 points each,,,,Gromac's are usually faster 5-7 hours and they give about 30-40 points,,,sometimes LARGE GROMACS,,,give more points,,I have gotten several Large gromacs that will take 2 days and give about 150,,,so its relative ,,,more run time ,,,more points for each unit,,,Glenn

i was just thinking. On thursday i go off to college (OSU) and i'll have my 3 roomates computers also running folding. Man this is gonna be great. BTW team ranking 769 out of 33097

p4 does most the work,,,programs on other slower systems,,,churning away LOL they will all purge at once !!! yeeeeee haaaaaa

downloaded & installed the graphical client, which is up & running, will set up the 'no-nonsense' client as a service after school, don't have the time to do that now.
important thing is it's crunching at least

WARNING

Make sure you finish that work unit before changes,,or you may loose the time vested ,PS also make sure before changing client types,,,,to do a complete UNINSTALL of the first one,,including going into program files and remove the FOLDING folder completely, trace elements left behind !!!,,,lots of troubles in the past,,double units running because of not cleaning out PC first, Glenn

not all that much trouble, takes me about half a day orso to finish a WU (at least the first one I recieved).

but thanks for the heads up man, now I'll go read the tweaking thread and install the no-nonsense thing on my 2 other pc's
