Has any one else had a problem with "notfred" i have been trying all morning to reconfigure it but the ISP "192-168-10-129" will not connect for me??

    Any ideas gratefully received.

I never had a problem with those appliances BILL.
When you did the configuration, and the black text screen rolls through, is that the IP address the appliance picks up? It scrolls through and stops and then scrolls again and the IP shows on that second scroll near the bottom.
You use powerline for your set up don't you? Are your other comps in the same IP range of 192.168.10.xx? The first 3 numbers have to match for you to be able to communicate with that address.
My set up for notfreds is on my home computer so I can check the actual config about 10 hours from now if I need to.

I have had it running before, I made some changes to the rig so i wanted to re-install it and when i run it it gets to the last part and gives the IP when i type it into my browser it just goes to a page full of rubbish.

You have to use decimal points not dashes as separators in IP address configuration. 192.168.10.129

Thank Ibmest i got it running on 2 cores of my i7 so i will let it go for a couple of days just to keep an eye on it and then maybe bump the other 2 core in.

One Q if i shut it down at night does it restart at the last checkpoint when i re-start in the morning ??

I have my preference set for suspend in the VM on shutdown. I'm not sure if notfred will pick it back up if you shut down rather than suspend. I know ubuntu does, but notfred is a pretty lite appliance. I'll do some checking this evening.

Ok i will suspend it first the same as VM and see what happens.

It' too loud to leave running overnight in the apartment.

    Thanks

So, you're taking it slow for now eh Bill?;) :) BTW, is it just the GPU that is loud? You could always shut that down and leave the i7 going 24/7 for the -smp8/-bigadv units. :drool

Well i have to say i am unimpressed with notfred.

If i run Linux in VM ware with all 4 cores it allows me to use the PC without any slowdown and it produces more points.

What kind of PPD were you getting with the notfreds as opposed to the linux BILL?

4000 with notfred and 5000 with Linux
