    Vitals:
    Windows XP
    HP Pavilion dv1000
    Norton
    SpySweeper

    Issues:
Takes about 5 minutes to boot up. There is a nagging svchost.exe that appears in Task Manager that hogs the CPU. Once that process is killed, everything is more or less OK. Average about 42 processes running.

Nothing really appeared in virus or malware scans.

Other logs to follow under separate cover.

You did not rename HJT before you ran it. You also did not uninstall:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
    Reboot and install:
    Java Runtime 6
You also did not "unhide files and folders".....
However, there are no traces of malware on your system ....This is a software problem and best be addressed in that section.
Be aware that between Norton and the HP software trying to update ...that could be some of your slow start up problems.
