    Hello,
I have XP SP2, and found out I had spysheriff and a couple other trojans/malware. I've followed all of the steps up to 6 which requires IE. Each time I open IE home page is about:blank then when I try and browse somewhere it either shuts down asking to report error to MS or it tries to debug... I'v attached logs as requested. Also I followed the POST regarding SPECIAL REMOVAL PROCEDURES for Spysherrif. thanks in advance for any help.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

You have a lot of different infections!

Actually you did not follow our procedure for fixing SpySheriff. We do not ask you to run SmitFraudFix. There nothing wrong with using SmitFraudFIx, but it is not what our procedure requests. Also you did not uninstall SpySheriff from Add/Remove programs as the procedure requests. It is still there.

In addition you have skipped step 0 of the READ ME. I see the below installed and step 0 indicates that they should be uninstalled.
    Search Relevancy
    Spy Sheriff
    Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only)
    Viewpoint Media Player

Also the below application, while not malware, is not worth having. Especially if it is the free version. You should uninstall it too.
    SpyHunter

Also you did not install HijackThis like the directions in step 7 of the READ ME request. In fact you installed it exactly where we specify not to install it. Please install it properly, then continue with the below.

Please run the below procedure and make sure you follow all steps in the procedure.

    SpywareQuake & SpyFalcon Removal Procedure

Then attach the smitfiles.txt log as requested and also attach a new (properly installed) HijackThis log.

Hi Chaslang - thanks for your comments and assistance. Obviously I had some problems following directions! My bad and my apologies... hopefully I've gotten it straightened out. Here are the requested logs - thanks for your time

You still have a bunch of problems. Some of them should have been fixed by the SpywareQuake procedure but you may have run it before one of the last updates. I'll work up a procedure here for you.
Now copy the contents of the below Quote Box to Notepad. Then click File and then Save As. Change the Save as Type to All Files. Name the file fixme.reg and then click save. it to your Desktop. Then locate the fixme.reg file and double click on it and say yes to the prompt to add into your registry.

Now Download: HSFix.zip We need to use this to work on a HaxDoor infection that you have.

Extract the tool from the ZIP File to a folder you can easily find (preferably in its own folder - like C:\HSFix).

Now please boot to Safe Mode and DoubleClick hsfix.bat to run the tool.

Allow it as long as it takes to run, then Reboot to Normal Windows and look for a log at C:\hslog.txt . Please attach that log when you come back.

Now please download & run Blacklight Beta
    • Hit I accept. It will take you to download page.
    • Download blbeta.exe and save it to the Desktop.
    • Once saved... double click blbeta.exe to install the program.
    • Click accept agreement and Click scan
This app too may fire off a warning from antivirus. Let the driver load.
      Wait for it to finish.
    • If it displays any items...don't do anything with them yet. Just hit exit (close)
    • It will drop a log on Desktop that starts with fsbl....big number
Please attach the Blacklight log file here later when you finish other steps.

Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Please run HijackThis and click on the Open the Misc Tools Section button on the open page. Then select Open process manager on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click Kill process. Then click yes.
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxvwpwks.exe

After killing all the above processes, click Back.
Then please click Scan and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = about:blank
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = about:blank
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O1 - Hosts: 216.250.243.157 exchange.nexgentravel.com
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [orderShell] C:\Documents and Settings\CP\orderfopt.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [0mcamcap] C:\WINDOWS\system32\0mcamcap.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DCOM Server] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxvwpwks.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [0mcamcap] C:\WINDOWS\system32\0mcamcap.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [10664883.exe] C:\Documents and Settings\CP\Local Settings\Application Data\10664883.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [0mcamcap] C:\WINDOWS\system32\0mcamcap.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [shell] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00013.exe"
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: twpR32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\twpR32.dll
    O21 - SSODL: DCOM Server - {2C1CD3D7-86AC-4068-93BC-A02304BB8C34} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxvwpwks.exe
    O21 - SSODL: DeuMEBoGs - {71795761-DBD3-FDCB-E40E-6F928252AE82} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\wzo.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxvwpwks.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\0mcamcap.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\twpR32.dll
    C:\Documents and Settings\CP\orderfopt.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\CP\Local Settings\Application Data\10664883.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00013.exe <--- look for any files here that begin with ibm00 and end with anything else and delete them.

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now we need to Reset Web Settings:
    1. If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2. Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.
Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now.

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

    Download - Pocket KillBox

Extract it to its own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate it later to run it.

Now copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Run Pocket Killbox by doubleclicking on killbox.exe
Choose Tools > Delete Temp Files and click OK.

Paste the below filenames into KILL BOX one at a time. Check mark the box that says "Delete on Reboot" and checkmark the box "Unregister DLL" (If available) Click the RED X and it will ask you to confirm the file for deletion…say YES and when the next box opens prompting you to reboot now...click NO...and proceed with the next file. Once you get to the last one click YES and it will reboot. Note some of the files listed below may not exist but we need to check for them anyway.
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\seDS.a3d
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\twpR32.dll
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\twpR64.sys
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\kgcpt.dat
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\zq.dll
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\zq.sys

If Killbox does not reboot or you get a Pending Operations type error message just reboot your PC yourself. However BOOT INTO SAFE MODE during this reboot and do not run anything but what I request. DO NOT open any browsers!

Run HijackThis and select the following lines (if it is still present) but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: twpR32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\twpR32.dll

    Now exit HJT
Run Windows Explorer and double check to make sure the below files are all deleted (some we already got with killbox):
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\seDS.a3d
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\twpR32.dll
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\twpR64.sys
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\kgcpt.dat
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\zq.dll
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\zq.sys

Now reboot into normal mode and after reboot double check the same HJT entries I had you fix above and if any still remain, fix them again a second time.

Now attach a new HJT log

Also tell me how things are working!
