Thank you to the people who made and run this site. I really appreciate your help.
I recently noticed Antivirus XP 2008 on my machine and it didn't seem right so rather than clicking on any of the windows I started looking for online virus scanners or anything that might help.
Once I found this site I followed the instructions in the Read & Run me first thread, but while running MGTools (from the C:\ root directory) as instructed it gave me an application error while scanning. I did not try to re-run it and instead decided to post my log files as they are now and ask what to do next. I don't want to make it worse. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention in the first post... my clock is still in 24 hour mode. Not sure if that's relevant.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Here is how you fix this but I would wait until after you run the below fixed since ComboFix could just put it back in 24 hr mode again.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Did you really want the below to run all the time on your PC?
    C:\Program Files\GameSpot\GameSpotDownloadManager_Win32.exe

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Ran everything as you instructed.
    I chose uninstall Windows Messenger.
    ComboFix ran fine.
Fixme.reg gave me a success message.
I then ran CCleaner which ran ok but,

While running GetLogs.bat I got an application error.
"ProcessDll.exe - Application Error" "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."

At that moment the command prompt window was at this point:
    Getting System Information
    Zipping C:\MGTools\sysinfo.txt
    adding: MGTools/sysinfo.txt (188 bytes security) (deflated 67%)

After clicking OK the command prompt window continued and showed this:
The system cannot find the file specified.
Could Not Find C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.ADV-BROWARD\Desktop\procdll.txt

    Then ended normally.

Seems like the machine may be running ok now, but I'll keep an eye out for anything strange.
Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it.

This was explained in the Using MGtools instructions. You do not have Microsoft .NET Framework installed from Microsoft Update.

Do you see the below file on your PC?
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\SjyPkt.sys

If yes, please put a copy of it into a ZIP file and attach it here.

Don't know how I missed that, sorry.
I installed the .NET framework as instructed in the MGTools thread.

No I do not see C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\SjyPkt.sys on my PC.

Need to run back to work, but wanted to ask you before doing anything. Should I rerun GetLogs.bat and post again?

No. Not at this time. But please do the below.

Download Registry Search (see the link titled RegSearch Download Link)
    • Extract the files from Regsearch.zip into a folder.
    • Doubleclick regsearch.exe to start the program.
    • Enter SjyPkt in the top area of the form and then click "OK".
    • Notepad will be opened with text in it (the file named RegSearch.txt will be saved in the program's folder as well). Attach this file to your next reply.

Okay I think the SjyPkt.sys driver may just be related to your Wireless device. Since everything appears to be running okay and your logs are otherwise clean, let's goto our final instructions.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. You can uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware now.
    2. We recommed you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a scanner. It uses no resources except a little disk space until you run a scan.
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combo-fix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combo-fix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combo-fix folder from combofix.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    9. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
