I posted in Software...was given instructions. Have followed them and here's the logs...
My instructions were to post them in Malware.
    ...
My initial problem was that I starting getting redirected when I attempted to link to Google results.. Computer reached a point where it would lock up when I was trying to boot. I have followed the instructions and here are the logs.
    ...

Thank you for the assistance. I''d really be up a creek without your help.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Why did you skip the running of SUPERAntiSpyware?

You said what your initial problems were ( and really you had more problems than this ) but you did not say what current problems you have.

Is the Spyware Doctor 7.0 you have installed a paid version? If not then uninstall it now.

Also uninstall and never use again the below which will break your PC:
    RemoveIT Pro v4 - SE

Also as instructed in the READ & RUN ME, uninstall the below old versions of Sun Java:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
    Java(TM) 6 Update 7

After a reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

What program are you using for AntiVirus protection. I don't see any active antivirus protection, or active antispyware protection (unless Spyware Doctor is a paid antispyware program), nor a real firewall installed.

Answer: Instructions were specific to follow the READ ME instructions in sequence and not to go back and run things that would not work. SAS would not run!

The post I made in software under stunted listed my problems in great detail. I was told to perform certain tasks and repost within Malware. My Current problems are: My computer now boots...but has a huge screen stating my computer is infected. And I get a message which states:DAEMON TOOLS. Initialization Error. This program requires at least Windows 2000 with SPTD 1.21 or higher . Kernel debugger must be deactivataed. Internet link is slooooooooowwwww.

This SpyDoctor was downloaded by accident when I was attempting to download sas. It has been downloaded, but I do not believe it installed. But whatever the case I have removed it.

    Done.

    Done.

I had AVG once upon a time. It appears to have been removed. What program do you recommend?

Please observe proper quoting methods to make it easier to read. I fixed your last post. :)
Okay but you should have explained this in your first post. ;)

Yes but I needed to know exactly what problems you have now after running the cleaning procedure which is why I asked.

Okay we will check into this.

Not malware! I suggest that you just uninstall Daemon tools for now. Any problems related to it will have to be discussed in the Software Forum.

Yes it was installed and running.

Avira or Avast. Or one of the others you will see in our How to Protect yourself from malware! sticky. But do not install one yet until we finish any clean up.

Now let's cleanup a few things.

I strongly advise you to cleanup your Desktop. Remove eveything but links to run programs. Do not download and save programs here and defintely do not use it for long term storage. You need to keep ComboFix.exe here for now as we need it, but we will be removing it when we are finished with your cleanup. A cluttered Desktop is malware's playground and it can also cause performance degradation especially when you start saving large files here like you are doing.

You have some Symantec left overs to remove. Please run the below then reboot. After reboot run it one more time.

    Norton Removal Tool (SymNRT)

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll (file missing)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it has expired or need to be updated to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    The results are in:
Attached below are the files you requested be sent.

I have followed the instructions provided...larger files moved off the desktop.
I do seem to be able to run the basic programs now:
    Internet explorer
    Microsoft office.

    Great to be functional again...
    Thank you.

    You're welcome.

Okay that fixed a bunch of problems, but not everything worked properly. Let's try a different fix to finish it off.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\avenger.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

The system response is greatly improved. I do still have a few issues:
    • I've installed PC tools anti-virus as recommended and restarts have slowed WAY down.
    • When restarting the system I still get the DAEMON tools initialization error. Per your previous recommendation I attempted to remove DAEMON tools. First by windows remove program...no success. (Can't find it to remove.) And also tried uninstall at the Daemon tools root and I get the message: Setup is unable to validate installation.
    I've not been able to

O my. I was using my computer today when of it's own accord combofix just took off running and would not stop...It has wiped everything off my hard drive!

    It then generated this file.

Am I as screwed as I think I am?

Please don't use PHP. Please use quoting proberly.

No where in my fix did I ask you to install PC Tools!!!!

I'm sorry but ComboFix does not run on its own. But there is a recent bug in ComboFix causing a problem. The only way you would have this bug though is if you downloaded and ran the new version because you already ran it a couple times without a problem.

See what was requested here: Combo Fix Deleted Everything

Do not attempt to restore anything on your own. Make no more changes to your PC. Just get us the De-Quarantine file so we can make a fix. Also get the ComboFix.exe file out of the Quarantine and back onto your Desktop.

    PCtools
My error. I thought at some point in our communications you had told me I didn't have an anti-virus and needed one. I did pick one from the Major Geeks site....However rest assured I'm trying to follow your instructions to the letter.

You need these additional details on what happened:
I only get to work on my computer on the weekends. Sometimes I have access to other computers as I work and sometimes I don't. Sometimes when I get back to my computer after being gone for a week I've had "help".

When I went to run the follow up to your last message combo fix had dis-appeared from my system. I had to reload to follow your instructions. What I ran in the last episode was a freshly uploaded Combofix. Not the one ran in the previous sessions.

And despite your conviction that combofix does not run on it's own, it did on me. Here was the circumstance:
I use Microsoft Word documents to store data. I use excel with hyperlinks to act as a directory and pull up for the documents. A card catalogue if you will.
I was running excel and word and had a large group of files open. To complete my task I needed to open a Guitar Pro file. When I did a screen came up stating (And I'm paraphasing) your machine has a virus and combo will remove it. I could get the application to pause..but not stop.

Since I couldn't get out of the loop the system ran to completion and that's when I found everything gone.

I have been able to borrow another computer this weekend.

I went in to follow your instructions and found that my son has performed a system restore. The system now shows the program files...but all the data is still missing.

Your instructions were specific not to change anything. Obviously with a system restore performed something was changed. Rather that guess what to do I'm asking. Do you want me to unrestore the computer and run the fix prescribed...or do you have other instructions given the circumstances?

See the end of message # 4 where I said the below:
If this message was truly from ComboFix then it would mean you already had ComboFix running or you had run it previously and it never finished running. Either way, you had it running. It does not run on its own. It only runs when you tell it to run and it needs to finish running after a reboot to create its log. If it never finished running after a reboot, it is basically still running from the last time it was run.

The System Restore was a bad thing to do. Undoing it could be even worse. You have to try running the below now and hope that the System Restore does not mess it up.

Download the new fixed version of combofix.exe and save it to your Desktop. DO NOT RUN IT YET!!! Just make sure you have the new version downloaded and saved.

Now download this file > http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/CFDQ-UsrPrf.exe

You should be able to run it from any location but save it to your Desktop if possible. As long as Qoobox has not been tampered with, the tool shall be able to automatically do the below.
    • restore all the required files/folders
    • restore the perms
    • set the correct attributes for desktop.ini
Now run the CFDQ-UsrPrf.exe program by double clicking on it.
    • Immediately after you run it, YOU MUST NOT reboot your PC. Don't do anything else but continue on with the below..
    • Now immediately run the new version of ComboFix that you saved to your Desktop earlier. This should cause a reboot of your PC after running if malware was detected and removed.
    • After reboot attach the C:\combofix.txt log.
    • Also please run the MGtools.exe program as specified here:Using MGtools Then attach the requesetd C:\MGlogs.zip file
    • (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )
Now tell us how things are working.
    • Do things seem to have been restored?
    • What malware problems are you having?

OK I've followed the instructions and I've attached the files instructed. One really BIG snag. I went to the MGtools ....no exe file. So I renamed my existing MG tools file and down loaded a new MG tools exe and attempted to run it... Was never asked any questions but the application "flashed", filled the new MGtools file it created. Not sure what to do at that point.

I have tried the critical application I needed files recovered for and it appears I've got access restored to majority of my files. (I had one that stated it was corrupted... I followed the screen instructions and I was successful in getting the file to open.)

I attached the files that would fit. I'll try a second post

This makes no sense. If the file does not exist, what are you renaming.

And either way I did not tell you to look for MGtools. I told you to go to the Using MGtools link and follow the instructions. Those instructions begin with downloading MGtools.exe.

    What questions were you expecting?

    Huh?????

Don't know what problem you are having base on your description. If MGtools.exe ran properly then a new MGlogs.zip file should have been created and you need to attach it.

If it appears that MGlogs.zip was not updated, just run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat by double clicking on it. Then attach the new MGlogs.zip file.

I'm sending the zipped file. It has taken a while to send due to a negative reaction my machine had to an automatic windows update. It put the computer in a blue screen...had to uninstall the update.

My basic issue is unchanged from my original complaint.
    - When I do a search online I get results...but I'm redirected to a site other than the one shown when I attempt to follow the link.
    - In simplicity, I'm trying to save my data.

Since it has been almost 2 months since you last posted, we need to get some updated logs to know the real status of your PC.

Go to TDSSKiller and Download TDSSKiller.zip to your Desktop
    • Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any subfolder of the Desktop.
    • Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold command into Run box and hit Enter.
    "%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -v
    • Follow the instructions to type in "delete" when it asks you what to do when if finds something.
    • When done, a log file should be created on your C: drive named something like TDSSKiller.2.1.1_27.12.2009_14.17.04_log.txt which is based on the program version # and date and time run. Please attach this log to your next reply. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

Now download the current version of MGtools and save it to your root folder. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

    Now attach the below log:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

Okay we have a little more to do now. First delete you outdated copy of ComboFix.exe from your Desktop. Now download and save this version combofix.exe to your Desktop but do not run it. We will use it in a fix below.

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{0B9F0C1D-4594-473D-B497-66AADC5D5F6B}: NameServer = 93.188.162.95,93.188.161.78

    O17 - HKLM\System\CS4\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 93.188.162.95,93.188.161.78
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS4\Services\Tcpip\..\{0B9F0C1D-4594-473D-B497-66AADC5D5F6B}: NameServer = 93.188.162.95,93.188.161.78
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 93.188.162.95,93.188.161.78

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.

    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt

    Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

I have followed the instruction sheet provided with your response that my system logs are clean.

I also uninstalled and installed programs recommended.

My computer has slowed down significantly, and worse I can no longer use windows explorer. I click the icon and the hour glass appears...then it disappears and nothing else happens.

    Suggestions?

What exactly did you install? You problem may revolve around the poor hardware specs of your PC
    Code:
    Processor x86 Family 6 Model 13 Stepping 8 GenuineIntel ~1729 Mhz
    Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB
    Available Physical Memory 71.30 MB
You have an old, slow processor and do not even have half of the absolute minimum amount of memory required to properly run current versions of Windows XP and other software you need. You need a minimum of 1 GB of memory but 2 GB is highly recommended. Also since you probably receive a bunch of new Windows Updates since it was now working, this may have had an effect of performance.

There is no fix for an old processor and speed other than a new PC.;)

    Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer?

Download the current version of MGtools and run it as specified. Attach the new MGlogs.zip file so we can check a few things.
