    Just in case you weren't
    feeling too old today.........

    The people who are starting
college this fall were born in 1992.

They are too young to remember
    the space shuttle blowing up.

    Their lifetime has always
    included AIDS.

The CD was introduced two years
    before they were born.

    They have always had an
    answering machine.

    They have always had cable.

    Jay Leno has always been
    on the Tonight Show.

    Popcorn has always
    been microwaved.

    They never took a swim
    and thought about Jaws.

    They don't know who Mork
was or where he was from.

    They never heard:

    'Where's the Beef?',

    'I'd walk a mile for a Camel ' or

    'de plane Boss, de plane'.

    McDonald's never came in
    Styrofoam containers.

    They don't have a clue
    how to use a typewriter..

Pass this on to the other
    old fogies on your list.

    Notice the larger type?

That's for those of us who
    have trouble reading.

    P.S. Save the earth.
It's the only planet with chocolate

OMG in work we where just talking about some of these things last week, in the old TV shows *da plane boss" Fantasy Island to Mork and Mindy as well as old food stuffs and chocolate we do not see now or has name changed, as in Marathon in UK due to EU meddling changed to Snickers... and Opal Fruits changed to Starburst ......WHAT!?

Have to say answering machines are still around and in a different guise as mobile is voice mail and many phone systems for the landlines now have answering machines built in, opposed to a separate huge clunky machine.

    Good post.

Up very late at night a few days ago, I saw a PBS show playing an ancient episode of some incarnation of the Siskel & Ebert show. The opening (which doesn't seem to be available online) had footage of a machine that I had totally forgotten about - the soda machine where you chose your flavor, then the cup dropped down, got filled with ice, and finally a stream of soda would fill the cup.

I am sort of surprised I don't see that system some incarnation today. In movie theaters, it would seem that labor costs would make it favorable for the server to punch buttons on the machine, fill the rest of the order then come back and grab the sodas, as opposed to standing there holding the cup(s) the entire time they're filling.

The kids on that list can't imagine only having 3 (4 if you counted the fuzzy UHF) channels to pick from, much less having to actually get up to change the channel.

Pay attention the next time you're in a fast food restaurant (if you still have one left where you don't have to fill your own cup).
