Are you trolling me? The article is about the WTO which is a legal way to challenge Trump's tariffs.
So we have common ground, how about this as a definition on how to define trade imbalance? Not the opinions other than how to calculate trade, note the Starbucks vs Boeing analogy closely.

The blog you cited was about how the WTO was failing to be of influence around the world. Three countries are taking Trumps tariffs to the WTO. Might that be a reason he wants to get out?
I showed you what the tariffs were on goods by each country. Was there something unfair about them? Was 0.08% too high for Canada to apply?

What trump says... and what Trump does... is not always the same.
There are countless reports saying he wants out.. he doesn't want out.
    Take your pick.

Trump wants out of the WTO.

He should, you are doing very well at evading a personal stance.
I think we should stay in the WTO and re-negotiate payment and watchdog status. China needs to play by the same rules as other nations.

Hey Tim, I thought DOA was fairly smart........ but apparently not......:rolleyes:o_O
Methinks DOA is just trolling ;)

  11. DOA

    DOA MG's Loki

Read the whole thread Joffa, how many solutions have been posted as a personal opinion to solve a problem?
Yes, I am somewhat trolling, trying to get people to actually THINK and come up with solutions, not just post problems. I understand all the posting about being against problems, but if there is no posted solution what's the point?

  12. TimW

TimW MajorGeeks Administrator - Jedi Malware Expert Staff Member

Bull shit. You posted about when it is time to follow the law or not. Examples and positions were posted. You challenged some and got answered.

Yes, you are more than some what trolling. You keep trying to change the subject. We showed you the solution to racism. Then you want a solution to WTO and tariffs. None of us are the presidents economic advisers. We supplied opinion of the situation. You ignored it.

Anything more from you is pure trolling!

You got your answers. You just keep moving the goalposts.

  14. DOA

    DOA MG's Loki

    Some easy to see:
post #52, no proposed solution, well researched, but no personal well thought out solution. Good questions, why were there no answers in the post?
Post #55 again, good points, but where does the person making the post state his stance and what he thinks should be done?
Post #56 just a link which is good comment but no solution or even a personal stance.
At least I say things rather than just post links and whine. See posts 21 and 22, 22 should have been a direct reply, instead he does a sidestep. If you consider post 22 an answer I find that strange as it neither confirms no denys the poster's own views.
The goalposts have not moved, some are running away from them. I am after well thought out personal beliefs and solutions with links supporting them. What I keep seeing is a lack of personal commitment and thought hidden behind links to others' ideas.
Time for me to stop. I see no direct response to my questions, just "strawman logic".
In case you missed it, my question is "Do you support illegal actions to promote change?" I was expecting posts like my own "When all legal means are exhausted". Or perhaps people are still considering where they stand on this issue."

post #52 --- tell Trump to stop placing tariff!!
The obvious solution for any but the brain dead is to have the World Trade Organization stop Trump tariffs!!
The link was that Trump is trying to "blow up the WTO. So, just what kind of solution do you think there is for that?

Done!! Arguing with stupid will only make you feel stupid. I got better things to do.

Finally an opinion, I assume Tim means himself by "any but the brain dead". But I don't think the WTO can do that nor will they consider why the tariffs are implemented
    .
Just Playin, you totally miss my point. I actually like that you disagree. But I do ask that you have a solution (what do YOU plan to do, no one else, YOU) and own it rather than hiding behind name calling and other's opinions.

Civil disobedience and dissent are only illegal behavior when laws are unjust.

“Civil disobedience, as I put it to the audience, was not the problem, despite the warnings of some that it threatened social stability, that it led to anarchy. The greatest danger, I argued, was civil obedience, the submission of individual conscience to governmental authority. Such obedience led to the horrors we saw in totalitarian states, and in liberal states it led to the public's acceptance of war whenever the so-called democratic government decided on it...

In such a world, the rule of law maintains things as they are. Therefore, to begin the process of change, to stop a war, to establish justice, it may be necessary to break the law, to commit acts of civil disobedience, as Southern blacks did, as antiwar protesters did.”

Mekanic, sounds like you are in line with Martin Luther King. Civil disobedience is a viable action as long as no harm comes from it? Please clarify if this not your stance.
    quote from his Wikipedia page:
"King is best known for advancing civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience, tactics his Christian beliefs and the nonviolent activism of Mahatma Gandhi helped inspire."

  23. DOA

Read the first three posts and see if you can figure out who changed the subject. I don't mind, but the original topic got changed pretty quickly.
But my intent is still the same, just failing. To get what guidelines people here use to vote/act/post on a subject. A stance on moral and political issues takes time and is difficult to put into words. Many people don't have their own and are drawn in by news and history as it is presented to them which can be false. As stated above I am against civil disobedience until legal channels are exhausted, that point being determined on a case by case basis.

    More in line with Gandhi.

"Civil disobedience is not only the natural right of a people, especially when they have no effective voice in their own Government, but that it is also a substitute for violence or armed rebellion."

    ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Why the hell not @realdonaldtrump (not a member here and why the hell not TBH)
I get the trade taffifs and agree with him on parity of trade why should US insustry be paying more to export than imports from EU or others. UK trade with US is in surplus at 18% and growing market.

    David:
This is why we need heavy tariffs on our allies:
    Canada 0.8
    China 3.5
    Denmark 1.6
    Finland 1.6
    France 1.6
    Germany 1.6
    Japan 1.4
    Poland 1.6
    Portugal 1.6
    Sweden 1.6
    United Kingdom 1.6
    United States 1.6
    See how unfair this is!!!
Trade imbalance results from one country importing more than it exports to the other country.
What I find interesting is that Trump is putting tariffs on our allies, but not on Russia. Seems rather odd, don't you think?

Why would a Russian oligarch buy an interest in a company which develops voting machine software?

It appears that Trump may be simply a culpable idiot. By electing a man like Trump to the White House, America has found comic relief.

    Comic relief??
    100+ criminal counts
    35 total indictments
    32 people indicted
    3 companies indicted
    5 guilty pleas
    Paul Manafort in jail
    Michael Flynn guilty
    Trump told Russia to hack
    Trump staff met with Russians
    Trump Jr. worked w/Wikileaks

And he wants to meet Putin behind closed doors??
FDR didn’t meet w/ the Japanese after Pearl Harbor. George H.W. Bush didn’t meet w/ Saddam after Iraq invaded Kuwait. And George W. Bush didn’t meet w/ Bin Laden after 9/11. So tell me, @realDonaldTrump, what does America get out of you meeting w/ Putin after he attacked us?

Or perhaps Trump was elected because of what Hillary did. Slightly lesser of two evils?
But like you, I can laugh at the situation while I work to make it better.

Hillary didn't do things much differently than Colin Powell when he was Secretary of State regarding e-mail. It's funny how it was claimed routine maintenance and secure deletion was "hiding something". If you want to permanently delete something, one would tend to use something far better than BleachBit.

The "right wing" in this country with the aid of an adversarial government managed to prevent Clinton from being elected. Ironically, they used to call Obama the "Manchurian Candidate", lol...
