Foreign Software question - Installation

Ok, here is the issue fellow geeks

I have this software in english version released in the United States.
Yamaha is NO LONGER UPDATING this software, and I can't find the english update for it anywhere on the internet.

Here is the dilemma:

The exact same piece of software was released in Japan for japanese speaking people.

I found a site where they sell the japanese version...

here is the kicker: Can I get the japanese version, install it in windows vista released for the U.S, update it with the japanese updates (which japan still supports) and expect it to work, or do you think or know that there will be an issue because the language of the software is japanese???

What version do you have?
What is the model?

 

The american version I have is xgworks 3.0.

The japanese version is 3.0

I have windows vista home premium, pc.

This software is a midi sequencer which was originally released for win 98, hence the updates are necessary to make it work with xp/vista.

Finally, if the question can't be answered for this type of software, I'd love to get an answer in general for any type of foreign software...

Found a driver for USB-MIDI (version 1.2.2 for Windows Me and 98).Dated Aug.26,2005.
