Forgotten Windows Password

I picked up my HP Windows 10 laptop afrter a couple of months of not using it and stupidly I forgot my password to open windows. The password reminder I set was "The usual" which hasnt helped
I've tried everything I can think of
Does anyone know of a way to get back in and remove the password option.
I want to set a pin instead?

I don't know how I got in but managed to bypass the password and accessed my files which I am now backing up
Even though I'm in I still can't change the password or use a pin (which would be easier) without entering my forgotten password
I decided I would do a factory reset of the entire HD
I'll come back if I still get stuck

 

Download this program and create a boot CD from it. You can clear your password so you can log on to your OS using it.
