    To format and re-install:

    1. Configure your BIOS to boot from CD before hard drive
    - Enter BIOS. This takes a specific keystroke IMMEDIATELY after the power is turned on. The first screen will say which. (usually F1, F10, delete..)
    - Look for Boot Order, Sequence, Priority - or something similar (different for each BIOS), and set CD ROM to the top of the list.
    2. Insert the XP installation disc
    3. Restart the computer
    4. When prompted, press any key to boot from CD

From there, it is as simple as following the prompts to completely format and re-install your operating system.
