format hard drive without windows 7 disc

    I would like to know how can I format a hard drive without windows 7 disc.

    There are several partitioning tools that can be used. You would need to burn a bootable CD, boot from it and work on the hard drive that way.

    MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable CD is one that many here use. The download link for the ISO file (it must be burned to CD) is at the bottom of the page.

    You are aware that if you format it you will need to install an operating system on it?

    Hi

    Without more info the above info is best options, is this Hard Drive already in a PC, what is the history of what happened and what are you going to install on it, or are you using it as a data (secondary/slave) drive.

    If the drive is not in a PC or can be hooked up to a desktop then you can use that machines OS to format the drive, then place back in original machine, or use as data drive an another desktop.
