Friends: I have a few RW DVDs with RAW file systems. This file system would not allow me to do anything with them. Tried to format them to UDF file system with DOS prompt, but no luck. IMGBURN does not work. Anyone know how I can do this? Thank you.

The problem may be with your optical drive or the RW type and/or brand. Are they +RW or -RW? Are they Memorex? I cannot use -RW in any of my optical drives and Memorex behaves the worst (several coasters). I now use Verbatim DVD+RW and my burning software formats the disk before recording.

You can format the discs in Windows 7 using either the "Live File System" or "Master" formatting option. Here's a link to detailed instructions at wikiHow.

You can also use the free program InCD from Nero. I couldn't find a download on MajorGeeks. Here's a link at Softpedia. According to Softpedia: "The download doesn't come bundled with any offers from third-party products."

I haven't had a problem with InCD, but is always good to create a System Restore Point prior to installing such software.
