Foxconn or Asus Motherboard?

    I am having problems deciding between a Foxconn or Asus motherboard. All of the big things are the same (i.e. both support 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM and have the same SATA connections and a LGA 1155 socket) except the Foxconn is about 15% cheaper. I just wan't to know if there is a LARGE difference in quality. I know Asus will be more recommended, but I only plan on having this computer for a few years so I don't care in small differences in quality.
    Any and all help is appreciated.http://dailydigitaldeals.info/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/11/14/track.gif:)

    Update : I know Foxconn is a large company. They make the Nano PC and the Google Glass (whenever it comes out) and I know that they provide many fair priced motherboards for Dell and other companies. I just need to know what the quality difference is in their motherboards.

    Personally, ASUS is on a very short list of folks I will NOT buy! Gigabyte makes the best systemboards; but, Foxconn is just fine, too.

    Not had much experience with Foxconn as far as motherboards go . . . I've used some other products branded with the Foxconn name. No complaints.

    I've built a good number of systems based on ASUS boards, and have yet to be disappointed. My first major build was on a P4P800SE board I bought in 2004. It served as my "main" computer till Aug of 2012, when I built a new system for myself based around an ASUS P8P67. The P4P800SE system is still serving as my back-up PC, and is now running Windows 7 Pro 32bit.

    I just recently built a computer for my wife around an ASUS P5K SE new/old stock board, using salvaged components from an Acer desktop someone threw away. It's been up and running fine for a month +

    I say go ASUS. I've found them to be of robust good quality and free of set-up issues. Based on my personal experience the company seems a safe bet.

    I've also built computers using:

    --Biostar U8668D board (failed in normal use; no obvious cause);

    --MSI 945GCM478 (failed in normal use - obvious capacitor failure);

    --My very first build was a PIII system for my son based on an Intel D815EEA board, which remains alive and kicking. It served for a while as a test frame.

    --A VIA based board, the make and model I can't at this writing remember (it was hard to set up, had hardware/driver issues galore, and it more or less failed - unknown cause, but I found some iffy caps).

    Bear in mind I have had no recent experience with either MSI, Biostar, or VIA products. I may have just had bad luck, or maybe their quality has improved in the past several years.

    As always with such things - do some research on the type of motherboard you want, and then the specific motherboards you are considering. I've saved tons of wasted time and buyer's remorse by spending time scanning forums and enthusiast sites about hardware.

    Good luck with your build and have fun! :)

    I love ASUS motherboards. Have never had problems with any of them, and their BIOS updates and driver support is solid, at least as long as the board is actively supported. But mainly, I love them for this:

    That little white "connector" shaved at least 20 minutes off my last build. Genius. :major

    Yes indeed . . . especially as I have gotten older it's been getting harder to see the tiny detail on motherboard case headers. This is a brilliant and helpful plus from ASUS.
