I noticed the first problem a day or two ago--when I click a link in Firefox, sometimes it takes me to some other page for advertising. After installing Google Chrome, I am also having trouble setting default programs--the Microsoft Office applications are hidden. I've followed the process defined on this site to the best of my ability. I've attached logs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not finding much in the way of malware. Rerun Hitman and have it remove what it found. Reboot and rescan with both RogueKiller and Hitman and attach those logs.

I did as you suggested. The latest logs are attached.

Firefox is misfiring now--it does not take me to advertising pages but it does not always take me anywhere when I click on a link. The problem with default programs seems unchanged.

Please let me know what you think I should do next.

    Thanks.

Thanks! That seems to have fixed the Firefox problem.

I solved the problem with setting the default programs by going to programs and features, selecting Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007, repair.

    Good to know.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link
