Fps??

I know that fps is your frames per second, but how do you see what it is? people on here talk about mantaining so and so fps at such resolutions and stuff like that. i was just wondering how they know what fps there running at? i know sometimes when i play a game with everything on high it gets kinda choppy when theres a lot goin on and this means that the fps is very low right? sry if this sounds like a noob question, but i know what fps is i just dont know how to see what it is during gameplay. thnx.

 

many games have a command that you can enter that will show you the fps in a corner of the screen, thre are allso benchmark programs that will do it for you.

 

you wouldn't happen to know the command for halo, call of duty, or battlefield 1942 road to rome would ya? or where i could get a benchmard program(for free)?

 

i believe the fps command for bf1942 is:

~ to bring up the console. type fps 1 to show fps. type fps 0 to turn it off.

Yes, it will work, but I'd use the built in FPS meter over that.

 

It's also a First Person Shooter.

I guess if we were to be pedantic we would say
FPS = First Person Shooter
fps/Fps = Frames per second

(the 'ps' in 'per second' and the like is seldom capitalised)
