    Hi

    1) I would like to address the fact that you are not running any anti-virus. Not having the protection of anti-virus leaves you wide open to all kinds of nasties. You should install an AV from the recommended list which I will link to further on down in my steps.

    2) Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: nnpfei.dll

    NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    3) Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it
    (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:

    KILLALL::

    File::
    c:\windows\Tasks\cxlftbuz.job
    C:\-1664092705
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\nnpfei.dll

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
    "AppInit_DLLs"=""
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft\MS Juan]

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    4) Now Run Ccleaner!

    5) Now install an anti virus from the "How to protect yourself from malware" link

    6) Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Combofix

    Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now.

    QUESTION: Do you have any idea what all of those locked registry keys show at the end of your first ComboFix log are for? Does Haus Auf Gabena mean anything to you?

    hello,

    had SAV 10.1 CE installed on this computer previously; it is actually what detected the virus/spyware/malware problems in the first place...had to uninstall before read and run me 1st because it had lost communication with the server and wasn't downloading updates etc

    have reinstalled SAV 10.1 CE and run a virus scan...
    it detected two trojans, fjfnwi.dll.vir and imijxqfw.dll.vir,
    both files at the path:
    C:\Qoobox\Quarantine\C\Windows\system32
    and quarantined them...
    i thought this folder was added by MG software, so i'm not concerned...

    no problem with the instructions and everything seems to be running fine...
    the new MGlogs and combofix log files from today are attached...

    not sure about the locked registry entrys from the first combofix log;
    but they do not appear in the 2nd one attached...this computer logs onto a domain maybe that has something to do with it?

    'Haus Auf Gabena' means nothing to me...should it? :confused

    thanks a lot guys!

    greg
