Free antispyware for Win 98 wanted.

    was running adawareSE, but when I last updated it, Window said it would only run WIN 2000 or newer, same message when I restored old version, so now I am currently running with NO malware protection. Tried several different downloads, with similar results. Need a program that will run in WIN98 and fits my budget (0)

    If you were using the free version of Ad-Aware SE, it did not give you any protection. It is only an after the fact scanner/removal tool.

    If you are looking for free protection for Win98, you choices will be extremely limited.
    If you are only looking for a free after the fact scanner (which is not the way to go) you have a few choices.

    See this for a free scanner: SUPERAntiSpyware - if you purchase it you will also get very good protection and automatic updating.

    For a free blocking tool, this may still support Win98: Spyware Terminator (Without Web Security Guard)

    You should also make sure you install this: SpyWare Blaster
