Hi all, I'm new here and just wanted to say I love this site. I've never played free cell before today and I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but when I try to move cards to the free cell they won't go there. I've read the instructions over and over and (think) I know the concept, but every new game I try, it will allow me to move 1 or 2 cards to the free cell, then I'll go to the bottom of every column and try to move the card and it won't go. Is there a tutorial somewhere that will help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks, I'm obviously "challenged" :confused

Yes Cat, that's the one. I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was dragging the cards and if you don't get it just in the right spot it wont stay there. So I finally (with the help of my husband) double clicked it and viola, it moved to the free cell! Sheesh that was frustrating me for over an hour! Now I have been playing it since and it's freakin' addicting :drool
Thanks for the help, maybe I'll catch up to you, haha.....

    Hey Laura :wave
Different versions of Freecell are very pernickety in the way that you try to move the cards around. Some versions like you to 'pick up' the card by putting the mouse dead centre and others either top right of the card or double click ;)
If you ever get stuck on any game, just pm me or Cat and we will be more than happy to help out :)

I've never used the MG version. I always use the version supplied by Microsoft at c:\Windows\system32\Freecell.exe (in XP Pro, probably the same in other versions). By the look of it, the graphics in the MG game are pretty rough. The MS version is played offline, which is a bonus.

When I had dialup I used to play Freecell a lot while waiting on dialup.

I've attached a thumbnail showing 45 cards to go out on the next move as a challenge for you. I've got 48 many times but 45 is a good challenge to start with. :D Bazza

Hey guys, thanks for the help! I definately prefer the MG version because of the ability to view where all the cards are with the highlight feature...awesome. After playing for so long my eyes get bleary and it's definately helpful :) Bazza, I would love to contiue the challenge on that game but isn't it just a screenshot? I clicked and nothing happened :confused
I'd love to see if i could finish that out.
    on a side note...
Ahhhh did anyone see the Giants win? eeeeehaaaaa

I don't know what you mean by "highlight feature" :confused
I can see all cards except those that have gone "out" (2's and 3's in my thumbnail for example).

As for screenshot, it shows the MS Freecell game number in the heading, and the next move all 45 cards will go "out" in one hit. Shown, as an example, to see if you can get more than 45 to go "out" in any game.

I play MS Freecell to see how many (maximum) cards I get get to go out in my final move. It is a bigger challenge that just playing it to win.

I have had 49 go "out" a few times and believe that is the maximum you can achieve as Aces and Two's go out automativally in the MS version and you have no control over them. Bazza

It's a feature where you can find a card you need, i.e. highlight the 9s if the next card you need, never seen that feature before, handy and at the bottom right of screen.

Thanks Cat_w_9_lives. That would speed up the game, I guess. Bazza
