Free Laptop.......... yeah right

Y'know. I am not stupid. I was sitting here listening to the radio and surfing and I heard an add for a website that supposedly offers you a free laptop in return for your input on the product in question. That was the add. Well, to make a long story short, 15 minutes of clicking no to a crudload of offers, I'm not getting a free laptop because I did not choose to participate with any other offers.

I mean, I know that there are programs like that out there, but for those of us who do not have the cash to drop on a new laptop, it sounds good when you hear one of those ads. The point I'm trying to make is that these ads are severely misleading and it just irritates the heck out of me that they can run them. Ah well, such is life I suppose.

For the record, I'm looking for a notebook (the newer the better) so I can work on the run and be more productive (plus I keep telling my boss that if I had a notebook, I would be willing to work more because I would take it with and work whereever I happen to be (LOL.. Answering service on the beach in FL someday :))

OK, rant over. If anyone knows of a legit type deal like that let me know, not that I am holding my breath. *grin*

I only paid $125 for a nice Gateway on eBay. It's a good place to look, but if you want cheap, I'd say only Buy it Nows, and read carefully.

THanks Triaxx... I do lurk on ebay on a regular basis, have had good luck there in the past. JUst can't justify the cash expenditure right now.

Was more of a venting about misleading ads than anything else.

Comes from having made changes in life a while back and am very straightforward about things and hate prevarication when it comes to things. Nothing irritates me more than being purposely mislead. ah well... if only I had the source code to life it would be a lot easier...LOL

Yeah, it's a good thing to vent over.

my advise would be to carefully consider what you actually NEED, and then shop around for SLIGHTLY more than that. by the time you will need better, hopefully your finances will also be better. so go for the cheapest model possible. the price of these things fall as newer, faster, better stuff comes to market. however, most people do not need the capacity of the equipment they have. a NEW laptop is now less than $500. a year ago that would be a thousand.

Oh I know laurie. Just a matter of wanting and not having the cash to spend, or the need to justify the expenditure. *shrug* Just looking for something for free is all. Pipe dreams I suppose.
