? free norton anti-virus

I would like to have norton anti-vir on my computer. Where do I find a free version for the initial down load? Not the update version? Thanks for your help.

 

You can dowload a trial version of Norton Antivirus 2006. This gives you a 15 day evaluation period before you have to buy.

However, I would recommend that you NOT use Norton Antivirus for a few reasons:

1. You have to PAY for it. There are products of equal or better quality available for free. No initial cost, no subscription cost.
I would recommend:

Avast! Antivirus
or
AVG Antivirus. They are both great antivirus solutions.

2. NAV is a bit of a resource hog, that is, it will take up quite a bit of space on your system, where the above take relatively little.

I'll just tell you before someone comes and yells at you: whenever possible, you are to direct people to the download section of Majorgeeks. It is how they pay the overhead for this place. Also, is the direct link to an evaluation copy of Norton Antivirus on Norton's site not better than searching a third party site?

 

You can get a free copy from Norton if you're in the US Military !!!

 

Aside from the four year enlistment period.

I suggest Avast! Home Edition, though it does suffer from a lack of sexy asian screensavers.
