Free Protection

I was wondering what free programs I can download for my PC to protect against spyware, viruses, and the like. Why I am wondering free is because most of the programs require a credit card or something, and I am not old enough for a credit card.

I was also wondering what is a good download manager that doesnt come with a download accelerator attached to it. I've had bad luck with accelerators.

Hi, I use Spyguard which watches changes all the time and give me an opportunity of stopping them.

SpyBot S&D which I scan my drives checking for spyware

Lavasoft Ad-aware same thing these 2 programs do the same job but often find different things.

AVG Antivirus free version.

All of the above are free but none of them are any good unless you keep them updated especially the antivirus which should be done at least weekly. The retail anti virus progs usually update daily.

FireFox has many features and is good at keeping away the "baddies"

Hi, I did scan the tutorial but if the lady has no spyware or virus at the moment it is very complicated for a newbie.
