Free Space

    Ok when i decided to to some house cleaning i noticed that there is 3.14 gigs of unallocated space partitioned on my hd when i went into comp management do i need to save this space for anything or can i use it?:confused

    Probably your recovery partition, and probably a good thing to leave be. (this would replace your installation discs)

    Could confirm with a make/model of your computer, though....

    Mada is correct, that 3GB is the recovery partition.

    Yup.

    See this link to the manuals for this laptop. You do indeed have a recovery partition.

    You CAN get rid of it if you have the media required to rebuild the machine. You will lose Dells windows installation, and any preinstalled software, however. For most users this is best left as is.
