Hello guys, just wanted to point out that a very popular one of the programs here : Freemake Video Converter is running a virus. Yes, yes I've read the other threads, but it has nothing to do with a toolbar. I ran this program on my new PC, and didnt install any of the toolbars or anything. The new PC that i got where the firewall wasn't working, where there was no protection. I downloaded a few videos, then after a day, the program had deleted itself, and all of its associated files, had changed and had infected other parts of my computer. I was sure it must have been another virus, but after running the program on my desktop when i took off firewall I found the exact same thing happened. Both of these PC's were unusable, they became so slow, and freezed and restarted continuously. Just to be 100% sure, I had my friend come over who is a computer programmer full-time, and i had him check out the problem. After hours of work he found the problem and indeed it had started from the Freemake Video converter. I find that infecting such a popular program is annoying and made me make this account purely to start this thread.

    HI

Sorry to hear of your problems with this application, Majorgeeks does scan all of the applications it lists before listing for download, so I scanned this one again with Virustotal and this is the result HERE , then looking up why NOD32 flagged adware up I went to ESET to check and found this http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2677&locale=en_US

I will contact the owners of Majorgeeks about this thread and to check the file.

Would you know what your friend found, files, names of files, locations, registry locations etc as that would help

It's a false positive or you are already infected. Sorry.
