Freemake Video Converter

I've been using Freemake Video Converter for years. Win 7 O/S. Great program. I've created hundreds of DVD=/- R with 10 hours of videos (6 - 8) videos. Size never mattered, it was length. Less than ten hours for excellent quality visual DVDs.

Today when I tried to use it my Avast blocked it, declared it was infected with malware and quarantined it. I tried downloading the latest version and as soon as I tried to run it, Avast blocked it and quarantined it. Same malware infection.

Is Freemake Video converter dead? What has happened? Is it possible to get a version that is not infected?

    Any info, suggestions appreciated.

I thought if I bought three cups of coffee I would at least received some sort of reply to my post. This is the first time in many years that a post of mine hasn't been replied to. I did get a thank you, so someone drank the coffee.

Eldon, Thank you so much. You identified the problem and it's fixed. Restored my faith in Major Geeks. I just bought you a cup of coffee.

I downloaded the FREE version a while back and created ONE dvd.for my dvd player. It works fine.
Tried over the weekend to create another. When the program was launched, it wanted to update itself, so I did.
Now, I am UNABLE to add files for conversion and create a dvd for my tv, it wants me to UPGRADE TO KING LEVEL.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software multiple times. Still won't work.
How do I fix this ?

Perhaps you did not uninstall it completely and there are still registry entries.
I never uninstall using Windows Add/Remove programs. I use Revo Uninstaller.
    Try uninstalling with Revo.

Since you didn't say what version you were using only the current broken version, perhaps try an older version from here
    http://www.oldversion.com/windows/freemake/
    or here https://freemake-video-converter.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions
    Here's the changelog https://www.freemake.com/freemake_video_converter_changelog/
so perhaps looking over that you can figure out what version you were using.

Only try an earlier version AFTER you have used Revo Uninstaller to remove registry entries.

If you don't know how to use Revo, ask before you remove registry entries. If you remove things you should not, you can break Windows!!!

The software version number and the ID number were the first things in my post before I complained about freemake. I did uninstall with windows, so I will try the revo uninstaller. I already have that on my computer. Thank you

I can't get the oldversion site to appear at all today. HTTP Error 503, which is an error for their server. I was going to download it then scan with malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials. I'll try later today and see if the site comes back online.

The uptodown site doesn't have the version you want, 3.2.1.5.

Looks like that version is from 2012!

    Plodr,
Did you get this older version checked out yet? I still need whatever older version is downloadable & functional for Win 10. Thanks

I downloaded 3.2.1.5 from the oldversion site. MSSecurity Essentials detected nothing BUT Malwarebytes found malware.

I generally don't go against MBAM. So if it were me, I wouldn't install it.

I was going to upload it here https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload
but I chose to let MBAM quarantine it so it is no longer on my desktop.
