freeware pop-up guard

    Popup killer,

    Google for it, works great.

    don't think they make it anymore, but I still found it version 1.45 .2

    really helps, so Google for gold man :D

    Just a word or two about popup blockers. Sometimes they keep programs from automatically opening. Annoying if you have them configured to open on start up. ie weatherbug. Most programs have probably fixed this by now, it's been a while since I installed one.

    Proxomitron will do it. It's really flexible, but takes a bit of effort to learn to use it properly
