I am working on an HP DV2500. The last thing the owner did with this laptop was to create a recovery disk. When he restarted all that he got was a black screen with a flashing cursor. I thought he might have somehow formatted the drive, but it turns out that it is just freezing. Also, trie a system recovery. Freezes there too. When I put in a bootable CD or flash drive, it will run for about 30 seconds and freeze. I can boot to the bios just fine. It does not freeze. I did a hard drive diag from the bios just to see if it would keep running. It does. Any ideas?
