I was having freezing computer issues and posted the following in the malware forum:
They concluded that I do NOT have a malware issue but a software issue. I have a 64 bit Samsung NP300e5a-A03us running Windows 7. I can browse the internet now but if I put my computer to sleep and try to wake it then I typically freeze up and I have to hard reset using the power button.

    Any help would be appreciated.

That isn't a hardware issue. When you put your computer into sleep, it's also known as Save-to-RAM mode, meaning your PC is put in low power, and the system state is saved in the RAM until you wake your PC. So, try replacing your RAM or running MemTest86 for 24 hours. If your PC freezes or MemTest86 encounters an error (I'm don't know it's actual operation, I've never had it come up with an error), you know where your problem lies.

Dig into Device Manager and the Properties tabs for Power setting for anything USB and WiFi - turn off any power saving features there and test for a few days.

There's a chance that those DevMan settings could be overridden by the Advanced power saving settings in Control Panel - check what they are - again, USB and WiFi (they're the most frequent causes).
