Iam forwarding this as suggested by Chaslang which was originally posted in Malware Removal Forum under (Freezing Windows)

I have a notebook with P 1.6 GHz, 512 MB, 60 GB and running Win XP Pro with SP2. Windows and all startup items loads normally. I can open Windows Explorer and browse through folders normally, but when I try to run any program or app the system freezes and I have to shutdown by pressing the power switch. I suspect that I am hit by something and I have used several antivirus and spyware programs (Norton, SpySweeper, ...) and followed all the instruction on your (READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support) and still have the problem.

Note: When this first started I have notice a non responding excutable (Sysfader.exe) and I have dealt with it as mentioned in the forum, also I have searched all relevant posts for a solution but I can't find any. Before this happended my brother was trying to hook this Notebook to a LAN and has tried to change the Local Area Network Properties in the Control Panel and after rebooting we got to this situation.

You can refer to the attached logs on the original post (Note: all these logs are created while in Safe Mode because I can't run the programs while in Normal Mode)

    From WinTasks Process Library:
sysfader.exe is a process belonging to the NVidia Graphics device range and is bundled alongside these products. This is a non-critical system process although it should not be terminated unless suspected of causing problems.

Since the program is acting strange, maybe you should reinstall the NVidia driver.

Thanks for your reply. But, I have mentioned in my first post that I have solved this Sysfader thing !!. Any way I have done as you have suggested and updated the Nvidia driver to the latest version.

My problem is still existing: Windows boots normally, I can browse any driver or folder, but when I try to launch any program or app (even .bat files) the system freezes and i have to do a manual shut down.

Any good suggestions will be appreciated

Can you get into safe mode? can you get into control panel / admin tools / event viewer and look in each (system and applications) for errors and see what info you can get ......

I got into Safe Mode and checked the Event Viewer. There are errors in the Application & System Logs. Attached are text (Tab Delimeted) versions of these logos, please decipher !!!

Note: I suspected that some of my files are corrupted so I have done a repair install for Windows XP (yesterday), as instructed in

http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/rep... XP by Installing Over top of Existing Setup:

The situation is still as it is !!

Mamoun .....the files you attached don't differenciate between the ones that are reported as errors and those that are normal ...you need to post the events that have an X on them .....you can look up those errors at http://eventid.net/
and/or each error will have a link for more info and then a link to MS$ for their take on it ....And are you saying that you did a repair install and still can only operate in safe mode?

P.S. I understand your frustration with this ...but I was mostly off line this weekend dealing with a friend who is dying ....and if your thread gets a page or two back in line, just bump it back to the first page .....K?

    Thanks for your response.

Attached is a revised version of the Event Log. It contain only the errors list.

I hope this will help (cause I am not familiar with it).

In case you can not help with tis info, then I will go the long way ... backup and do a fresh install for Win XP

    For error 4609:
    1) Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools.
    2) Run “Local Security Policy”.
    3) Go to Security Settings -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assignments.
    4) Double click on “Create global objects”. The correct default settings are “Administrators”, “INTERACTIVE”, and “SERVICE”.
    5) Double click on ''Impersonate a client after authentication''. The correct default settings are “Administrators”, “ASPNET” (if you have the .NET Framework installed) and “SERVICE”.
Even if the settings are set correctly, you may need to “refresh” them to fix the problem. To do this, on each policy, remove one of the entries (“SERVICE” is probably the best to remove), then press OK to save the changes, and then go back in and add it back in again (click “Add User or Group...”, type “SERVICE” into the white box, and press OK). Then close the Local Security Settings box and reboot. If you are running in a domain with Group Policy, you might want to force a group policy refresh before you reboot by running “gpupdate /force”.

    For the DCOM errors:
To work around this problem, configure the DCOM Server Process Launcher service to start automatically, and then restart the computer. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrative permissions.
    2. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
    3. In the Services snap-in, right-click DCOM Server Process Launcher, and then click Properties.
    4. In the DCOM Server Process Launcher Properties dialog box, click the list next to Startup type click Automatic, and then click OK.
    5. Restart the computer.
