Fresh Install of XP pro and it keeps wanting to run setup

Hey folks,
First time poster. I found this forum yesterday when I was trying to help my kid resolve a driver issue which prevented him from getting sound. You folks are gold!

Here's the problem:
Fresh install on a new HD, existing MB using my old XP pro disc. My son reports that when booting the screen pops up offering to run XP pro or to run XP setup again.

Is there a way to remove this option since set up is complete and running properly?

May seem silly, but confirm that you have removed the disk from the CD drive.
I forgot one time and had the same problem.

Thanks, it never hurts to ask (it was my first thought), but yes the disc is out of the drive and it continues to ask.

 

Hi.
Open up Notepad. (not word. not works. not wordpad. NOTEPAD!)
Go to Open then type in "c:\boot.ini" (without the quotes)
Look at the 2 lines on the bottom. Remove the WHOLE LINE of the one that has Setup in it. (make sure it is DIFFERENT) then the one at the top that starts with default.

(delete the bold)
