They've had it looked at by a professional apparently who seems to have put every bit of protection on it (AVG Cloud Storage, IOBit Malware, etc. and set it all to run at startup).

It also appears to have some infections from the scans.

They've also said it runs hot, but ever since the JRT ran, it seems to have calmed down.

Anyway, I attach the files for you to advise on whether it is infected or not please. I think it's more a case of uninstalling all the many programs they have running and just keeping the ones from the "how to keep clean" guide.

    Thank you.

    Hello, mondola

There's a little junk to be rid of, but you're right about the number of startups and services running(..and from what). 'Nuff said?

Please re-run Hitman Pro, activate its 30 day trial license and then fix all detected Potential Unwanted Programs. After the removal, reboot your PC, run another scan with HitmanPro and then attach the latest HitmanPro log.

Next, download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • When it's done you'll see: Pending: Please uncheck elements you don't want removed.
    • Now click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • Look over the log especially under Files/Folders for any program you want to save.
    • If there's a program you may want to save, just uncheck it from AdwCleaner.
    • If you're not sure, post the log for review. (all items found are either adware/spyware/foistware)
    • If you're ready to clean it all up.....click the Clean button.
    • After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S0].txt) will open automatically.
    • Attach that logfile to your next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which are created when running the tool.

Sorry, don't know what you mean here. Are you meaning keygens / cracked software? Sorry.

    Latest logs attached as requested.

    Thanks again.

    You're welcome.
Nothing of that sort is installed, just a choice of protection software that's bogging down what should be a nice machine in use. ;)

Your logs look good. How's it running?

Sorry, I was being a Muppet!

Everything is a lot better. RAM usage was up towards 80% and is now down to 40%. That will be further improved once I rectify the poor choice of software as you say.

    :)

:) Glad to hear that report, mondola.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase it, it provide no protection. It do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and re-enable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7/8 - it is time to make sure you have re-enabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Go to the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If you are running Win 7/8, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work through the below link:
