Frontpage 2000 question

Hello everyone,

My wife oversees a website for her job, she was given a new task and is finding it a little difficult so I told her I would see what the GEEKS' opinon was .

My wife didn't initially create this site but she is supposed to "add a members services page to the website and then create a login field where the members input their id number to get access to the new page".

Here is the question, "how does she go about creating a login field on the new page, and how does she import the member id's from the excel database she has"?


Anyone have any thoughts on this one?

Hi James,

Don't know how viable using an Excel spreadsheat as a datasource is, but heres a Knowledge Base article on using Excel and Frontpage. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q268948/ . Kind of a daunting task anyways seeing as this isn't a very common way of authenticating users. She could always suggest they upgrade to a real database, and ditching the Frontpage wouldn't hurt either

Hey websiteforu what's up,

That knowledge base article link you gave her to try worked up until step 6, when it asked her to "install the import disk".

So when she goes into work I told her to ask her boss for the disk, since she didn't create this website from scratch I assumed whomever did used this "import install disk", at least that's my thinking.

Ehhh...import disk...honestly don't know anything about that! Sorry! I haven't used frontpage since 1997? What a hassle though, is this for an intranet site? or internet? theres so many easier and ways to implement this then using frontpage. If you need some links to some better options just reply back. Hope everything works out!

P.S.
What kind of 1/4 mile rocket do you have? I'm into muscle cars myself.

 

Yeah some links would be great just in case she goes into the office later this morning and her boss says that she "can't find the disk", at least she'll have some more options.

Oh yeah and it is an "internet" site, at least that's what my wife just told me after waking her up .
