It seems like FSB is becoming old and Core2 is the last Intel cpu's that are going to use FSB it seems like

AMD has HyperTransport and Intel has Quick Path Interconnect to replace FSB

I agree it is becoming old and requires a whole new way of thinking for the enthusiasts (OC). No more of the old freq x FSB will give you core speed?!?

I wondering if this is going to impact upon the potential longevity of the CPU's by putting more work load on them? The way technology evolves so rapidly it might be reasonable to believe that the Co. have lowered their life cycle expectations of the CPU for the market (from say 10-5 years) and thus aren't concerned if they are over working the CPU?

I don't think they are overworking the cpu. I wonder if this is going to help or not help overclockers.
