    Please can anyone enlighten me as to the use of FTPs

    Hi Tony


    FTPs is File Transfer Protocol over SSL (secure socket layer) and its a way to send data from one PC to another thats a FTP file server (or setup as one), I use FTPs in work to send data as its encrypted, some info HERE

    So if you have access to an FTP server then you will need to have some client software liek FileZilla (great free apps) the Host address, Port number and Password, then basically you are viewing the servers HDD (or allocated folders to you) files just like you would via Windows Explorer,


    We also have some setups for SFTP

    FTP is faster, in most cases, than http to upload and download files.
    If a site has both http and ftp downloads, I generally go for the ftp download.
