Function keys don't work on three separate keyboards on same computer

I have a friend that I am trying to help. She has a brand new Dell, P4, 3.2 Ghz, huge amount of RAM (can't remember exactly), XP Home w/ SP2. I set it up for her. After installing a new wireless Microsoft Natural keyboard, she was unable to use the function keys. After some research, I discovered the F-Lock key. I toggled it and it did not work. The new uses for the function keys worked when the F-Lock was off, but the function keys did not work right no matter whether the F-Lock was on or off. I reinstalled the software, no luck. I removed that keyboard, plugged in an older wireless keyboard without the F-Lock key, no luck. Thought that since she was using another brand of wireless mouse that it might be causing some sort of weird interference, so I installed the mouse that came with the keyboard, no luck. I plugged in a wired keyboard with a USB adapter since the computer has no PS2 plug-ins, no luck. I tried the function keys in more than one program to see if that was the cause, no luck. Any ideas? Couple of things that might help ya out. First if the F-Lock key has to be programmed be sure and set the .exes that you want to open using the software provided. Make sure appropriate drivers are installed. If there are drivers on the disk, the generic drivers XP installs may not be suitable if it is a newer model keyboard.
