What rubbish news. :( Thanks bruvva for passing wishes and stuff along..

I don't post much here anymore (I really can't remember why) but I do pop over now and again to see that the old favourites are still about and posting and to have a nose. G.T. you're certainly one of those old favourites.

Whenever there's an interesting thread/debate (argument!) you can always guaruntee that if you scroll down to G.T.'s answer, there will probably be the most intelligent and fair point of view, dripping with the common sense that most of us lack at times (and *always* interestingly and diplomatically worded too)

As Danny said, words on a forum can sometimes seem inadequate. I bet a lot of people in this thread are having trouble expressing themselves, and the majority, including me would give their eye teeth for your way with words, Gary.
Anyway, I hope all the messages from all the wonderful people here help to bring a smile to your face and help you get back on your feet. Even if you havn't been able to read this, I'm sure all the prayers and good vibes are prodding you already. (Good kind of prodding *nods*) ;)

Please feel better Gary, this world needs more people like you. :)

I think all that have posted here have dealt with GT in the past, Possibly MA, can create a list of people that are constantly hoping, and wishing, and of course praying for him. That would be more appropriate, than accidentally forgetting someones name. No one likes to be forgotten...

Wow, you guys' are amazing! I'm sure GT's getting as much out of the prayers and support as I am getting out of reading them.

OK, ok.....sorry to keep you all waiting for a week. Here's the latest (I wish there was more). As of Thursday night 12-7-06 they were planning on letting him out the next day. Unfortunately, I'm thinking this did not happen since I have not heard from him today. I'll let him fill you in on the tech. side when he's up for it. Long story short is it seems like his Chemo treatments are hot-wiring parts of his nervous system causing them to do (and not do) what they're supposed to. It's amazing what your body does without you being concious of it. Well, for now they have a short term answer to get him back home, but the issue that sent him in is still "short circuited." Again, I'll leave that item up to him if he chooses to share (some parts of Cancer are better left private). None the less, he seem's to be in good spirits and sends his thanks. (I've been reading him posts over the phone every other night).

With any luck you'll be reading his post in a day or two....and as for the lappy post. Sorry, only BIG BEEFY PC's for my Dad. If it doesn't have Duel Graphics cards and crazy cooling fans, it's probably not GT. :)

Hey Chesskin, thank you so much for taking time to come and let us know how your Dad is doing. We are all missing him terribly, and have been rooting and praying for his health. It is great to hear that he is being treated well and getting back on track gradually from the effects of the chemo, and that he is holding on to that awesome humor through it all. In fact, I think I detect some of that very same in you!

It is such a relief to hear how he is doing and I think I speak for everyone here when I say we are very grateful for you sharing this with us. Your Dad is a very special guy, but you already know that ;) I look forward to his posting again here soon :)

Thanks and have a great evening :)

Yeas, I would also like to echo what Lev said. Your Dad is one of those rare breed of people that tends to positively influence almost everyone he come into contact with.

Chesskin, thank you so much for keeping us in touch with what is happening. I take heart in what I hear, although he is far from out of the woods, yet. My I say what a fine young man you are too. I do share many common traits and circumstances with Gary, but I'll let him tell you about that himself, when he’s well enough, and if he wants to. Thank once again.

I am blessed to have known him and proud to call him my friend. I hope to tell him in person one of these days. Take care, all.:)

Thanks Chesskin great to hear that your dad is going to be getting out of "The Joint". Right on G.T. no woosie keyboards for our Boy, and hey if the monitor don't have 46,000 Volts coarsing through its wires then to heck with it. Here's hoping that they can get that Chemical Cocktail figured out, its a tough road to travel without the complications of "Bad" side effects.

Once again Thanks Chesskin, as you have noticed we all wish your Dad well and miss him terrible, and your posted have really helped.

PS a link for your Dad, that should put air under his wings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlV8WJ6N3nU Pssssssst don't tell your Dad I swiped it or he'll ball me out when he gets back

I'm Posting this in our Joke Thread as a tribute to our own G.T. who is very much like the Michael of the story

Michael is the kind of guy you have to love. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!"
He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him, I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"
Michael replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Mike, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood.
Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.
Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.
Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "Yes, it is," Michael said.
"Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live life."
I reflected on what Michael said.
Soon thereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.
Several years later, I heard that Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.
I saw Michael about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied. "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?"
I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place. "The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon to be born daughter," Michael replied.
"Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live."
Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.
Michael continued, "...the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared.
In their eyes, I read 'he's a dead man.' I knew I needed to take action."
"What did you do?" I asked.
Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Michael. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes, I replied." The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, "Gravity."
Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead'."
Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.

Yes you are right the body is a weird thing at times, tends to want to do its own thing if it thinks that will repair the damage, sometimes as you say it can shortcircuit and cause other problems, but it seems the Docs have things in hand.
