game cards

Hi, :confused

For Christmas my son wants a game card for his Dell Inspiron 530.
He plays a lot of games on his computer (internet also) and said that the quality is not that good.

I'm not sure if he is talking about a graphics card or what.

Appreciate any help, also where to buy.

Ask your son if he means by "the quality". Is he talking about what he sees on the monitor? that may help clear up whether he means a graphics card or not.

 

I'm pretty sure that he's referring to a graphics card. If you think about it, if someone says "my games are low quality, I need a gaming card to make them better", they probably mean the gaming experience isn't that great due to performance, or because all the in-game settings have to be set at "low" so that the game doesn't lag. A graphics card will definitely help in this regard, as will a memory upgrade. If you don't have at least 2gb of RAM, get it. Luckily, memory is SUPER cheap right now, and you can get really good graphics cards for under $150.00 (NVidia 9600GT -for example- can be had for $110-$150 depending on make and exact specs).

Besides.... what else could a "gaming card" possibly be??? Seriously.... I'm sitting here racking my brain and I can't think of anything else that could be implied by "gaming card" when discussing PC games.... wait... there is a new network card designed for gamers but I really doubt that's what the youngster is talking about.

yep the kid probably means a graphics card

You can get a decent one for quite a good price these days, try your local pc store(like pc world)
