Hi everyone , does anyone know what determines a games loading speed? Is it the CPU or RAM or GPU? Or is it a mixture of things?

    Just wonderd , thanks.

If you're referring to how well a game will play, how smooth the graphics are, how much detail there is, whether it's "chunky" or not.... gaming performance depends on 3 main factors; these are the ones you mentioned: CPU, memory, and video card. They all work hand-in-hand-in-hand. If you put a Radeon x1950xt 256mb AGP card in a Pentium III 800mhz with only 256mb of RAM, you won't get far. Sure the video card ROCKS, but everything else is lacking. Same if you had an AMD64 x2 6000+ with only 512mb RAM and on board video. It'll play some games (not many newer ones), and only on lower settings. I'm sure someone else can give you some more technical answers, but you get the idea....

Well thanks for the reply , but I mean for example when you go on a game , lets say such as warcraft 3 , when it finds a game and says computer loading. (It shows some peoples pc's load faster than others) What determines it to load faster?

Online games loading speed is usually determined by the connection type and speed e.g. your on a basic 1MB DSL and everyone else has 8MB cable that will slow things down for you. Downloading large files while playing will of course grind things to a halt! A slow server could also cause problems for online games. Ping the server.. click start Run - type "CMD" within the DOS prompt type ping enter the sever IP address. Many games will allow you to Ping within the game.

A slow CPU or a CPU running an anti virus in the background for example while playing games would drop performance. Hard disk fragmentation could also slow things down if the drive has to work harder to deliver and store that much needed game data. Defrag your hard drive if you've any doubts.

Another thing that will slow things down is the amount of RAM installed on your motherboard e.g 256Mb might be enough to play but in order to play online 512Mb might be better with 1GB or 2GB being best. Check your documentation for the exact amount of RAM needed or check some reviews online!

Of course the graphics subsystem has a lot to do with playing the game but that isn't quite initialized fully until you're actually playing. It won't offer much help for increasing loading times if you buy the latest and greatest graphics card.

    I hope this helps! :)
