I'm about to graduate soon with a dual bachelors in business administration and information technology and I was thinking of going to live in India for various reasons. Now I currently live in the United States and pretty much any game can be played here but I don't think India has a gaming industry and I still want to play the games I've been playing here. I know some developers use IP blocks and regardless of whither they do or not I'm sure lag is going to be a issue.

So my question is what are my options in regard to:

    -Lag
    -Getting through IP blocks
    -Stable connections
    -Price

I was hoping if somebody could elaborate on all the options and choices I have to make if I do go through with the move.

I can't offer the exact options you are looking for but I can tell you on PS3 and PC I've played against many people from India (or so they said) on games such as COD4 , MW2, MGS4, R6V2, Fight Night R4, Combat Arms and a few others.
This is pretty vague I know but just thought I'd let you know that I have played against/with people from there, I'm in Southern Canada by the way.

One thing I do know is several of them complained about lag/stability but that is dependant on who is host, where they are and where the closest servers are to you.
This is largely down to what system and game you are attempting to play.

First off, on consoles you are moving from one region to another. Your game disks may not work, your console may not be compatible with the TV standard. Since you mention IP blocks I'm going to assume you're on a PC, which will make region restrictions much less of a concern.

When I played EverQuest way back when I was living in Sweden but played exclusively on US servers so I could play with my friends. Never had a problem with lag or slow connections.

Anyone want to page Sikvik for an informed opinion? :-D
