The wonderful rejuvenative powers of coffee...it`s amazing.....wake up bleary eyed, and two cups of 5-scoop coffee I feel like a new man. I`ve been told by the doc, because coffee is a diuretic, and the caffiene isn`t a good thing either, that I shouldn`t drink the stuff. I told him I`d give up heroine but the coffee stays lmao. A hot cup of strong coffee on the porch at 6 am is the way to start the day.

Morning!:) Coffee...can't live without it! Whenever I have to go for fasting blood work it darn near kills me to not have my morning cuppa...even worse when I've gone in for surgery and then there's a delay before they put me under...an IV just doesn't pack the same punch! lol Or....when I'm due for my yearly mammo and have to give up all caffeine for 1 -2 weeks prior to going...it's absolute murder I tell ya! *thud*

I love going out on the patio with my first cup (year round)...it's usually still quite dark out when I get up but I love listening to the marsh come alive each morning...can't think of a better way to collect my thoughts and start my day after star leaves for work.:)

Ever eat any of that coffee flavored candy that comes in the tins a la Altoids? They've got mocha and a cappuccino flavored one... The taste of coffee makes me nauseous, but they're a nice little kick to start the workday.

A week or two prior to a mamo you have to give up coffee?
yet another reason to dread those things.
what happens if you cheat? I don't think I'll be able to do it.
I start out with coffee and keep it coming all day long. Everyone who knows me knows to not even talk to me until I've had it, I just kind of growl at that stage. lol

Mmm coffee. I had a bit of a problem this morning. I woke up 11:00 ish, and I was to go to Marlow to meet my "small friend" (think french), but I got to the bus stop, sorry I STAGGERED to the bus stop at 12:00, realised I hadn't had a coffee. I dashed into the petrol station and bought myself a 50p cup of black coffee, and some gum (important one that).

Threw that down me (not litteraly mind) and suddenly I metamorphasised before my own eyes from Neanderthal to modern man. And I suddenly realised the coffee tasted DISGUSTING so ate 3 bits of gum to take away the icky taste.

And the rest is long term memory. :p

Yup! The tell you to stop ALL caffiene...no coffee...no soda...no chocolate...no nuthin!...prepare for the mother of all headaches! :(

Since moving to FL I have gone to a couple different places...one place (which is the one I think I'll continue going to) told me to give it up 3 days prior...I can live with that a lot easier than the up to 2 weeks I've been told in the past.:)

The reason behind it is when you consume caffeine women (and sometimes men too) tend to get 'caffiene bumps'....these 'bumps' can interfere with the actual reading of the films by hiding what may be lurking behind them. When you give up caffeine the 'bumps' reduce in size until they are completely gone.

While the headaches are killer (and I get pretty snippy too!) it's worth it in the end to know you got the best possible reading and you did your part to make sure you did.:)

I had post-sickness issues once and had to give up all the big ones at once. Tea, coffee, yeast, wheat, alcohol, chocolate, OJ...you name it. I hear ya Abby....that is one mother of a headache. I couldn't have any lights on in the house, curtains closed, sunglasses on...every noise made my brain shudder! Ack!

I never want to go back to being that addicted again. I limit myself to one biggggg Dari Mart mug of coffee in the morning and that's it. Not sure about that 6am thing you got going on though Sasquatch! That sounds more painful than the headache ;)

I didn't know that, Abby. I'll pass the info on to my wife. She was told in the past not drink caffeine drinks, eat chocolate but don't recall if that was the reason why or it increased the risk. We usually go with decaff-type drinks. She'll go with Diet sodas before regular ones from soda fountains in stores but if theres a decaf diet she'll take that - she wakes up at o'dark hundred with the caffeine drinks. I"ll definiately pass this info onto her.

Hmmm. I was always under the impression that coffee helped build strong bones, and teeth :D I know I've been experimenting around with different types of truckers brews  these will get you going all day long and even work to prime a carburetor if your car won't start...WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HHHHOOOOOOOOO....

A friend of mine has a drink to give him a kick up the backside at 2am:

12 heaped spoonfuls of instant coffee, and the normal ammount of hot water.

You can almost SEE the green colour of the caffiene. Its about 0.5mg short of lethal

I already get lack of caffiene headache when I go more than a few hours past when I have my "normal" first cup. I cannot imagine what I'd be like after a week.
I went once for two days, by day two I went to the store across the street and bought instant crap they had out, at that point it was the best thing I'd ever had..lol
