I have a Gateway 700x computer I was given over the holidays I had to bypass the CMOS password to get into the system I took it apart to clean the case and parts b/c of the amount of dust put it all back together and turned it on and the power button is orange when I push the test button on the PSU the fans start running and it boots up w/out an issue could it be the PSU or Mother board issues? Thanks for takin the time to read appreciate any response

Double-check the 12-volt (20 or 24 pin plus 4 or 8 pin) power connectors that attach to the motherboard. If they're even a tiny bit loose it can cause a power issue like you described.

If it's not the connections, buy a decent brand power supply and hook it up. OEM power supplies are usually low grade and can fail in just a few years.

If the machine is stock video, a 350-400 watt power supply should be sufficient. If you have added an upgraded video card, I'd jump to a 500 watt just be be on the safe side.

    Hope this helps. :)
