I have a Gateway 980 server and it has 2 SCSI backplane cages in it. I've read alot on the gateway site that it can handle up to 73GB U160 hard drives. Then on another page it says that it is compatible with U320. I'm curious if anyone knows if the documentation is just old for the time and that it can handle a higher capacity SCSI hard drive? Has anyone tried putting a higher capacity drive in a 980? I'd like to find out before i dish out the money for a bigger drive just to find out it doesn't work. Oh by the way its the first generation with the 400FSB. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Not familiar with the server, but you most likely are getting 2 differing opinions because of a BIOS update that added support for the larger drives. Gateways website lists multiple BIOS updates for the motherboard and SCSI controllers. Not seeing much information on what each does, but this should get you rolling:

Sadly, you might need to ask around or call Gateway to see what each BIOS update does.
