    Hi
I am trying to connect an amazon firestick to an Huawei E3372h 4G dongle. The main issue I'm having is I dont actually know my network name or password for the dongle.

I tried typing in various gateway addresses that have been suggested to me while looking for help on this. Apparently this will land me on an Huawei page where I can change and acquire appropriate details ie. network name/password.

Can anyone assure me I'm on the right track with getting to the bottom of this. How do I find the correct gateway address?

    Thanks

    D

    It's on your router.

Thanks TimW, that surely makes sense. I've examined the dongle inside and out but it isn't there.

I'm not talking about the dongle. I am talking about your router!! You need to have a router to access the web. Did you not get a router from your ISP? There is no need for a dongle!

To what have you connected the dongle?

I have no router - I'm using the dongle solely as a mobile wi-fi device that connects through a hotspot, where these hotspots would be in certain places around the country. Its a wi-fi service that is convenient but maybe not so convenient where an amazon firestick is concerned.

Does this make any sense? I'm not sure now if I'm able to use this firestick with this paticular setup!

How is it powered? What device are you using to set it up?

A fire stick is not very practical if you are only using hot spots. For it to work, you need the name of the network and the password. That will change with every new hot spot.

No router .... no internet access.

I'm not moving around from one hotspot to the next - the dongle is stationary when in use kinda like using this one hotspot.
The dongle is plugged into a laptop usb port.

Please explain your entire setup. Your fire stick is plugged into the TV. Your dongle is plugged into your laptop. Where is this hot spot? If you right click your internet button in the tray, and open the network and sharing window.....does it show the name of the network?

The hotspot is a router also.

    Correct
To explain I currently link into a hotspot - essentially a wireless access point that provides internet access to mobile devices. It is supplied through a normal internet provider so joe blogs down the road could be linking into the same hotspot!

No. What I need to figure out is if this dongle has wi-fi capability - something tells me it doesn't. I was bin-hoking in my trash can this morning to find the original box it came in, but to no avail. :(

Did the dongle come with a set up CD?

Think this is dead in the water guys. Just to offer an update the guy in the shop informs me there is no wifi on the device, the signal it retrieves is not a hotspot either. So it was not clear how the dongle actually works apart from it connects into 02 network somehow.

    Thanks for all the assistance.

Sounds like your only choice is to sign up with an ISP.

Amazon Kindle Tablets do not support data dongle use. Only via another device that uses WiFi, ie you have to have the dongle in another device and use the WiFi signal from that.

You never answered my question.......how are you managing to post on MG's if you have no internet access?

It's a USB modem. You can enable internet connection sharing on your laptop, which presumably does offer a wireless connection. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...0/f6dcac4b-5203-4c98-8cf2-dcac86d98fb9?auth=1

However, I would go with a landline too as you will quickly use up the cellular hotspot's data allotment with streaming video.

    Correct.
You can't connect to a hotspot with this device.
Do you have a data contract with O2?
