I have one long followed by 2 short and then in about 3 seconds another 2 short beeps. I need to know what these beep codes mean.

It also has no video. I know that the monitor is not bad.

if I'm correct that means POST Error. Try to reset your CMOS by removing the batter for 30 seconds or moving the jumper pin according to your user guide.

I am not at home ATM but I looked on gateways manual and it says that code would be parity cannot be reset. I have no video, as I said. What would I do to fix this?

All motherboards have different beep codes. Probably would be best to contact Gateway and ask them what it means.

    Welcome to MG.

Some info on your system would be really helpful.

Here are some links on the different BIOS chips and error codes:

It would seem most likely that you are having a "Video Issue".

The first thing to try would be to remove and reseat the Video Card.

Hey, thanks for all your help I moved the jumped and it worked fine! It must have been because I had recently added in a new sound card and didn't move the jumper when I did that. Thanks for all the help. This is a site I will trust for life :)

Doing the same thing again, and this time it does not work with those steps. I have removed everything in it besides the video card, because it does not have an onboard video. By the way, BoldEagle I have the exact same PC specs, and everything from the video card to the type of ram. Note that is not the Gateway E-3600 specs.
The problem I will state again. It get the beep code, and I have no video. It now since I moved the jumper acts as if its always in the reset CMOS position, even once moved. It starts up like that every time, and in the rare occasion that it starts how it should I get that same error. I read the other posts, and it is impossible to reseat the video card because it is an agp.

Well I got it fixed. The insides of the jumper fell out so I got a new one.
