    Hi,

I have a Dell home computer a couple of years old, with 3ghz intel processor 512mg ram (I think - I can provide more accurate details if req'd). Three times now, since yesterday, the computer crashed after I had been looking at a DVD-RW I have, that has about 3 gb of data files on it (pdf's etc). I can look at the files and they all open properly but when I close the disk and eject, the pc crashes immediately after the disk has ejected. There is a stop error number - 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0x8070194f, 0xf8b83c0, 0xf8b392c).
My other dvd's don't cause such problems. I've scanned all the folders on the DVD for viruses but they're all clean. Any ideas? Could it be a memory problem?

    Thanks in anticipation

    Hi

This is one port of call to run through on that BSOD stop error http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330182

Also boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and see if it still happens on that disk when ejecting?

    Hi Halo,

thanks for that. I tried a few things recommended at the m/soft site but to no avail. Then my cd/dvd drive started playing up and refusing to recognise a selection of cd's dvd-r's and dvd-rw's. My response was to restore the computer to a point 4 days ago before I did things like enabling DLA so I could drag and drop the data files straight onto the dvd-rw, and thank goodness it's working again now! Thanks for your kind suggestions.

    Best Wishes

    Gazza
